The Power of a Single Day
Jun 26, 2017

Whether you are decluttering your home, training for a marathon, changing your diet or working towards the next level in your career, the habits necessary to achieve your goal ARE THE SAME! The disciplines, the things that you do every day, are, by and large, what determines, not just your direction, but whether or not you reach your intended destination.
That's good news. No, that's GREAT news!
Why is this such great news? Because once you learn the steps to reaching a goal, nothing can stop you from achieving anything, as long as you follow the steps and do the work - the hard work. It takes time, hard work and dedication to achieve just about anything worth achieving. Are there flukes, odd happenings, and exceptions to the rule? Of course. But, by and large, it boils down to what you do each day, the choices you make, consistently, that compound into achievement and success.
Rarely is anything worth having easy, simple or given. It happens, but not often. Most of the time, success is founded on blood, sweat and tears. Sometimes, more blood, sweat and tears than are necessary.
You can lessen the bleeding, suffering and crying IF you start out well, by identifying, creating and executing good habits. Good habits are the key. When you master simple, DAILY disciplines, the rest is, not always easy - but it is, at least, uncomplicated.
This is where the power of a single day comes in to wave the starting flag. In a single day you can get started, keep going and, eventually you can achieve your goal. In a single day, you can make the choices that, when compounded over time, result in your success. The story of your success is told in a single day, as long as that single day is followed by more single days that are leading you in the right direction and establishing habits and patterns that lead to success.
The big question is:
What does your day look like?
What are the things you do, day after day? What are your habits?
What behaviors are you repeating and are they bringing you positive or negative results?
The things you do day after day, have a profound effect on your direction, your progress and your results.
I challenge you to take a good look at a typical day:
- How do you feel when you wake up in the morning?
- How do you start your day?
- Do you enjoy starting your day?
- Do you look forward to your day?
- Do you enjoy how you spend your time?
- Do you feel accomplished at the end of the day? If not, what determines whether or not you feel like you've accomplished something?
- Time is spent, one way or the other. How are you spending yours?
Step back and spend some real time evaluating what you are doing and who you are becoming. Both are up to YOU. No one else can determine where you go, what you do and how you feel. YOU are in control of how you feel, how you react and where you're headed. Own it!
If you take a look and don't like what you see, DO SOMETHING about it!
If you take a look and you like what you're doing and where you're going, KEEP IT UP!
If you participate in this challenge and have found this helpful, please let me know. I'd love to encourage you further on your journey to be the best YOU that you can be.
Moving forward,
Robin
