My Goal

Sep 01, 2016

On this first day of a brand new month, I am sitting down to review my present goal with Marathon Makeover.

My goal:

To build an online community of reforming couch potatoes, bringing positive life change through walking/running a 1/2 and/or full marathon.

Some of our group in June of 2015, prior to the Wounded Warrior 1/2 in Dallas, TX

My plan:

In order to reach my goal, I will be intentional and consistent with my time and my actions, through supporting and growing my online community, posting helpful, inspiring and motivational material to my social media outlets, while continuing to work on my own physical, mental and spiritual health.

At the finish of The 2015 7 Bridges Marathon and 1/2 in Chattanooga, TN with some of our runners.

I believe that marathoning has brought me strength in all areas of my life. The lessons I have learned while training for and participating in race events, along with helping others to accomplish their goals, has given me insight and wisdom that I want to share with those seeking the same thing in life. I am seeking to be my best, my strongest and my happiest by using the gifts, talents and abilities God has given me.

I am on a journey to discover everything that has been set before me and to help others do the same by being the very best we can. I have learned much about myself in the dozen years that I have been training and have been able to apply those lessons to my everyday life.

At the finish of The 2011 Run For Life Marathon in Madison, MS with my running buddies.

I choose to believe that this world and this life are gifts from my Creator and that He has created each one of us with purpose, joy and a responsibility to live the life we have been given in the most honorable way that we can.

I have been given an opportunity and a voice to help people be their best by taking some time to work on themselves and accomplish something BIG. I will work each day to help others move further along in their journey by helping them to train for a half or full marathon and finish strong. I will train with this online community, sharing encouragement, motivation, challenges and useful information. I will work to bring my best. Some days I will fail and some days I will succeed. As Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final and failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that matters.” I will continue on this journey of mine, looking for new ways to reach those who need encouragement, instruction and motivation to be their best and get the most out of their life.

Pictured here are just a few of my heroes, showing up each week, in the early morning hours to get in their miles, share life with one another and get it done. They inspire me daily.

A marathon and/or a half marathon is an accomplishiment you can hang your hat on, look back and say, “I did that. And since I was able to do that, I can do ___________.” The blank is yours, to be filled in with whatever you want to do.

I want YOU to know that you are capable of so much more than you ever dreamed because you are.

Be your best!
