Low Carb Hamburger
Nov 11, 2015

My family has two main splurges that fall into the supper column. We love pizza and we love hamburgers! I haven't had too much luck with the low carb pizza crust options, but hamburgers are easy! Yes, every now and then, I go ahead and eat it with the bun. However, when I am wanting to stay low carb, I reach for a lettuce leaf rather than a bun.
At first, I was skeptical, loving my burgers the way I do, but then I tried it and it wasn't so bad. In fact, this is how I eat my burger most of the time. (The exception is when I have the option of a specialty homemade bun like jalapeno cheddar.)
As with pasta, the bun leaves me feeling full and bloated the next day. The swap for lettuce is definitely worth it!
When you eat your burger this way, it is even more important that your burger tastes GOOD! I make my own from ground turkey and ground beef. I add minced onion and green pepper, along with a packet of Ranch seasoning and an egg.
Knowing how to properly cook your burger is also very important. Click HERE for some great tips for cooking your burgers indoors.
You don't have to miss your favorite foods to eat healthy or to go low carb.
Eat low carb and have your burger, too!
