Every Once In A While You Must Do THIS.
May 26, 2016
If you don't do this one thing every now and again, you're going to get down the road and not know where you've been. Slow down and take in the view. Look around. Look up. Look back. Look down. Be where you are. Take your eyes off of the road and off of your destination for just a brief time. Slow down long enough to appreciate where you are and what you can do. Even on a run, in the midst of marathon training.
Just slow down.
I did that today with my running buddy. We just took our time, soaked up some sun, enjoyed the scenery and the conversation. We got it done, but we took our time. It was nice.
It was a beautiful day for a run, as you can see. It was a nice opportunity to slow down and take it all in.
If you're feeling tired and overwhelmed, slow down and relax. Breathe. Don't stop for longer than it takes you to gather your strength, though. Don't get stuck there and don't enjoy it too much! Just stop long enough to appreciate and to remember why you're working so hard in the first place. Gather your strength there, and then move on.
Today, I gathered my strength by slowing down and taking in the view. Tomorrow, I'll crank it back up and push forward. But until then, I'm going to bed early!
Rest up and be your best!
