1. When will the Renaissance at Colony Park Half marathon take place?
The Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon and Kids Fun Run is scheduled for June 28, 2008 in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Start time will be 6:00 a.m. The start and finish areas will be in the brand new Renaissance shopping center at Colony Park. Go to www.renaissanceatcolonypark.com

2. Who can compete in the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon?
Anyone 16 years of age and up and is in good health.
Walkers are welcomed in the race!

3. What is the course like?
The course will be great course for both good running times and scenery. Runners and walkers will get to experience the beautiful developments occurring in Ridgeland. The course will be mostly flat with a few rolling hills. Click here to see a course map and elevation chart.

4. Will prize money and awards be given?
We are offering a total purse of $5,250 (minimum*) in prize money for the top three Overall male and female finishers, Masters, and Grand Masters**. The Prize money will be equal in all categories.

Additionally, there will be drawings open for all runners and walkers for prizes, gift cards and shopping sprees.

5. Will the race have chip timing?
Yes. Official times will be recorded at the 10k and finish line. Starting will be gun start.

6. Will there be on-line and mail-in registration?
Yes. We will accept hard copy applications for 1200 registrants or June 15, 2008. We encourage online registration through www.marathonmakeover.com or www.renaissancerun.com, and will be accepting online registrations through midnight on June 15, 2008.

7. Will there be medals for every finisher?
Yes. All finishers of the half marathon and kids run will receive a medal.

9. Will there be a pre-race Expo?
There will not be an official Expo but there will be pre race pasta meals at area restaurants on Friday, June 27, 2008. Packet pick up will also be available on Friday, June 27 from Noon to 9 pm at Barnes & Noble at Renaissance at Colony Park.
Fleet Feet Sports is located less than 5 miles away to get your last minute race needs. They will also have a tent next to Barnes & Noble.

10. Will there be music entertainment as part of the event?
Yes! During and after the race we will have great music and give-aways to celebrate healthy living and a growing community in Ridgeland, MS. You won’t want to miss this exciting event so you can have a chance to win shopping sprees, prizes, and so much more! The Renaissance at Colony Park has great dining and shopping that is top of the line.

11. What’s the weather like in Jackson in June?
The average high temperature in Jackson in January is 89 degrees Fahrenheit. We anticipate that the weather temperature at the 6 am start time will be around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t worry, we will have plenty of water and Gatorade to keep you well hydrated and fueled. We will also have gels at mile 7.5 to keep you going strong.

12. Is there an event for kids?
Yes! We will have a kids one mile fun run starting shortly after the half marathon race begins. Each child between the ages of 5 and 13 will get to participate. All finishers will receive a t-shirt and medal. It will be a great event for the kids and family!

13. Can I wear headphones, or push a stroller in the race?
No. The safety of all participants is a primary concern, and headphones and strollers can cause problems along the course.

14. What is the time limit for the race?
The race has a 4-hour time limit.
